Cycling in Melbourne Australia

I raced my first Crit for the season and to my surprise I had lots of fun:
* I didn't fall off once, yet was resigned to the fact it wouldn't hurt too much if I did my normal dumb little falls on the unbanked corners (trackie)... I had my arm and leg warmers on + gloves so I was protected.
* My legs began to get lactic build up but it went away and I could finish the crit (that is a big thing for me).
* I came 5th (e grade... was looking for smaller font but didn't find one)
* The helpers were very helpful
* It is a nice social atmosphere
I love riding with my friends and racing adds the spark to the whole bike thing. There are lots of races on this weekend: Disc Sat night and then a choice of Crit at St K, CCCC OR sprints at Blackburn??? Anyone interested in some fun and a race or 2? Let me know and we can meet up some place or other.

Have you done any of the CSV Coffee Crit series? Do they have a f grade for old, fat, slow, (i.e.: can't be arsed) sandbaggers? Seriously though I'd love to have a crack at one of these events one day, but have come to the conclusion that I'll never make a adequate roadie due to being utterly crap at early mornings.

Oh, well i guess the early morning thing is unavoidable...

I am motivated to get up early because I have made some really good friends and love going riding with them. I would have helped at a coffee crit or 2 but they all clashed with state titles and opens so no I didn't. I wanted to go more as a supporter of the first timers rather than to do a coffee crit as I am on the CSV Womens Committee. From all reports, the clubs love the idea and the events have been getting lots o support. I have ideas for similar events in the future, but have no details I can share with you as yet. The Committee has put on a number of events designed to attract women to cycling racing and increase their confidence to race in road and track events including a Track Development Series.

Oh, by the way, csv have a:
Come N Try Track Cycling Day @ DISC

So you can come and try the track AND it isn't only early in the morning :) I will keep you upto date on events as they are organised.
