So how's he done it? Broken your U-lock with kicks and leverage? Brazen bugger. Did you get it back, Jim?

The company installed bike cages after that and other riders took their front wheels into the office. It was very disappointing that the police and BV didn't take any interest .

Please post a pic if you have one of your bike, and the serial. Did you put up posters? Have you spoken to other residents/tenants of the building? This is an opportunity to lobby for a bike cage, or vertical hangers, they only takes up one or two car spaces, or use underutilised space in the carpark. Maybe go back to BV, (pretend you're the facilities manager!) get a quote on a bike parking facility, and then go 'oh by the way can you look into this' before you commit to anything ;-)

The gait of the bike thief, the way he walks, at the start is probably the best way to ID him. What a cocky thug.

Citizen's CCTV, if you see anyone riding in jeans and sneakers, say hi, then take a pic ... everyone's got cameras these days, why not use them.

My fault in a way .It was a cheap lock but I thought I was pretty safe in a secure car park .He actually followed a car in and the the security gate would have closed behind him ,so he must have known the place .The police couldn't give a rats didn't even put it on their crime website.I also sent it to Bicycle Vic but they didn't respond. I would still like to get this guy, Pity I didn't know about this website earlier

I'm surprised he could ride it after the treatment it got to get the lock off.

If it was Victoria Gardens then try the Cash Converters on Bridge Road near the corner with Burnley street, plenty of second hand bikes appear there.

Sadly, security cameras don't catch people or stop crimes, all they do is help to identify them later if they are caught.

That's horrific, what sort of lock did you have Jim? Is this around the eastern end of Victoria Street near Vic Gardens. Also, with you permission, I could post this link to our local BUG so that people can watch for this person?

Well... I'd say that if he's a known offender (or becomes one) they're certainly going to get him based upon that footage.

The sad reality is, if they really want your bike, they can get through anything. However, this opportunist looks like he went for a combination of the best bike, with perhaps the easiest lock to defeat. (Was it a cable?) If it was, I'd be getting a nice meaty D-shackle. Kryptonite aren't cheap (or heavy) but I think they make your bike less attractive to thieves.

Good luck with getting some outcomes. It must've been heartbreaking seeing the footage.
