Well what a great event, weather held off and a lot of fun was had in the alleyways and streets of inner Melbourne. This was the 5th Roubaix and over 400 riders came out on the second last day of Autumn. Event organiser fyxomatosis and there many sponsors did a great job in creating an event that had something for everyone.
Cameras used were: Helmet Cam shots, Tachyon XC Micro. Rear view Camera, Olympus MJU740 in video mode. Stationary shots, Canon HV30 HD.
Opening track: Bent Fabric Alley Cat. Riding Track: Urban Cookie Collective. The Key The Secret (dancing diva's mix)

Hi Cory,
good to meet you on Sunday. Not sure what is going on with Youtube but the hit rate of the Roubaix video has taken right off. Usually I may get about 10-50 views a day for a new video but this one has had about 1000 plays in the last 12 hours.
Tonight I will air the video on Digital TV. As part of my hobby we are allowed to experiment with television transmission. Up in Olinda we have a digital transmitter that transmits on 446.500Mhz if you have a tv or Settop Box that can be manually tuned and a reasonable line of site to the Dandenongs you may be able to receive the downlink. I will fire up the transmitter just before 20:00. If you are going to attempt to tune the signal in, there needs to be one there. Our repeater is not a continuous transmission.

I will have a listen when the podcast is uploaded. As for the batteries the only issue with the Helmet Cam I was using is that it works best with Lithium Ion batteries, 2 X AAA are around $10.00 a pair. Hopefully next time I will have a HD helmet cam which will have a Rechargeable Lithium Ion pack.

I managed to edit about 4 minutes+ of interviews for YarraBUG Radio on 3CR, should have podcast up by Wednesday. Unfortunately the audio quality was a bit shite, possibly due to the Zoom H2's batteries approaching near death. That'll teach me to rely on ancient rechargeables.

Thanks Chris,
I was really determined to get it out last night.
400 plus riders this year, how many for next years event. I think if they left the bookings open another couple of hundred may have booked.
Great to at least see you at the end.

Great work there Jack, especially all the post-production done within a 24hr turnaround! (and I did turn up later)
