On sale at Aldi this week: Oregon Scientific ATC2K

Finally got around to buying two, one for moi & another for a friend. I just haven't had the time to sit down and fiddle w/ it yet, or indeed, find a spare SD card. From the specs it mentions 32mb internal memory that's expandable up to 2gb. Is there any capacity to expand on that or not worth attempting?

I think the ATC2k came out while microSD cards were still only available up to 2G, and I can't think they'd be any hardware limitation (addressing bit depth or such) that would prevent using a 4gb, but that probably would be the hard limit. There may be a firmware limit on the size. I think they'll store about half an hour at high quality (from memory) on a 2gb The quality's about that of a cheap point and shoot digital still camera in video mode.

The internal memory is for the firmware only, really.

Didn't have 'em at my local Aldi when I got there, but I did score a pair of knicks with red stitching, resulting in a pleasing Spidermanesque effect. One step closer to my dream of a Green Lantern costume to go cycling in. I figure if you're going to wear lycra, you have only two established stylistic prototypes to choose from...superhero or jazz ballet, and I don't have the right kind of bike for jazz ballet.

Not that long ago it was difficult find polycarbonate cups etc, now they're available at Aldi!

More about the ATC2K Waterproof Action Cam, mines going on the handlebar mounting, not helmet.

None left, but I got these.

Plastics

Plastic. $20 for 4. Just the thing for easy transport.

You make me jealous Chris, I was looking the other day at helmet cams and saw some designs for 3d cameras. If you used both cameras set about 100mm apart you could really get some 3d footage. Mind you the editing side of it would take some doing but just a thought.
32MB on hi-res is stuff all I think the camera is 640X480 to get some decent footage look about for a larger SD card. If you only use the internal memory you will regret it.

Oh yeah. Bike stuff at Aldi. Thanks, I'd completely forgotten that was on this week. Best bit is it's an excuse to get on the bike (rather than paint the fence which is what I'm supposed to be doing right now). And awaaaaay I go!
