Inaugural Sydney Tweed Ride
The 1st Sydney Tweed Run was held today with great success.Aprox 50/60 riders
dressed in their finest tweed and riding a vast variety of classics gathered at
Town Hall. Starting with an overcast sky and slight drizzle, we had a leisurely
ride to The Rocks, stopping for a photo opportunity under the bridge.Then up to
Observatory Hill, where the sun appeared and the view inspired all onto Mrs
Macquaries Chair,then over to Centennial Park,all arriving safely,despite the
cities traffic hazards!! Time now for tea, scones and presentations. Thanks must
go to Susan,Kylie,Paul,Damian and all other helpers that made this event a
memorable one indeed and all are looking forward to next years event.
Come on Melbourne, lets see some Tweed Ride rivalry down your way .

Yep sure is.There are incentives,(Cruiser Bike Prize) for participants at the Canberra ride to dress in their Retro/Vintage finest. Please read ahead for a more detailed update.
The 2nd Annual Canberra Vintage & Classic Bicycle Ride
is a 100 % funds to charity day.
When signing on for the ride there will be
Salvation Army personal present to take any
donations given as entry fees.
No amount is stated, just what you can give.
The raffle prize is a very nice Scwhinn cruiser bike,
thats kindly donated by Mick of Onyabike Belconnen,
All proceeds of this will go to CCC,and
ran by Ex MLA Jacqui Burke and staff of
Canberra Community Care (A local church group).
Best Period/Retro costume prize is another cruiser bike from Mick.
Catering for the day will be provided by our local Vietnam
Veterans Association.
Music will be by "Doctor Stovepipe",our local bluegrass/roots band.
Bike display is Peter Taylors race/track bikes,and my roadster bikes.
Classic bike auction will be of my excess stock,
proceeds go to the non profit Environment Centre
at which the event is held.

I've been looking at the pix, the event certainly looked great! Are you thinking of a similar theme for the Canberra ride that you're organising in September?
