Hmm, hadn't factored the possibility of rain into my RTB

Sunday looks like "Showers, clearing early," but just how early is early?

I've been planning to travel light. Light, long sleeves and legs, one spare tube, a tiny puncture repair kit, cable lock velcroed to handlebars, 4 bananas, 6 muesli bars. Now it looks like I need a rain coat, at least for some of the trip.

I might start off wearing a garbage bag...

I also filled one water bottle at that service station and agree, the water was disgusting. It had a metallic or plastic taste. Really bad. A guy I was riding with suggested that I might be dehydrated and so had more sensitive taste. It seemed like a reasonable theory until I had my next wee break contradicted that (clear).

Except for a wall of red lights through the last 15 klicks, it was just about perfectly to plan, Jodie :-) I was one of the last on the 10am ferry, so that made me one of the first off, the tail wind kicked in like a rocket booster for the run from Geelong to Werribee, but then VicRoads traffic lights decided to make it "interesting". I looked like I'd do it in 9h30m at Werribee, finished in 10h02m all up. (including ferry time) Probably the fastest I've ever ridden anything over 100km :-) BTW, the water at the BP roadhouse near Little River tasted disgusting! Would that be bore water? Glad I only filled one bottle with it and had some from Leopold in my spare.

How did you go Steve? I did the 50k ride. While it didn't rain it was still cold when stopped.

The killer, if it is part of your route, is the ferry. If you're wet to get on the ferry, and the weather isn't perfect, you will fah-reeze!

If you are wet when yr riding... meh. Provided you're not in cotton, you dry off. Still... I'd be wearing merino first layer. That's even good until about 30 degrees IMHO.
