Cycling in Melbourne Australia

My furniture finally arrived from Sydney, including my bike (yay!). Took it for a short ride along the Yarra track this morning. After riding the Apollo for a couple of weeks I noticed I didn't feel like my leg was getting optimum power and that maybe the seat is too low. I'm sure it's a matter of experiment, but was just curious to know if there's any way to work out your optimum seat height?

The Archangel Sheldon Brown has this advice on saddle height. And here's another nifty article from BikeRadar.

For me personally (and this may not be everyone else's case), I find a slight bend still in the leg on the down stroke is just about right. Saddle height parallel with my hip bone and at least a tippy toes touch or top of the ball of the foot on the ground when stopping or dabbing. But I'm a short arse.
