Cycling in Melbourne Australia

And I take thee, o Dahon Eco 3, to be my lawfully wedded husband.

The title is indeed indicative of how strongly I feel about my newly purchased Dahon Eco 3.

I bought the folding bicycle from St Kilda Cycles on 6 September, rushing down that evening after work from Caulfield to the store. Initially having my eyes set on the Mu Sl (approximately $1000), I was blown away by the Eco 3 when I took it for a quick ride around since they didn't have a Mu Sl already assembled.

Now, I must admit that I'm not the most thorough of bike-riding testers... in fact, all I did was hop on and ride around the car park, not even switching gears to find out how the bike responds.
But the grin that the ride plastered on my face is just unforgettable - even today, I get excited when I go for a ride on this navy beauty.

Next pay day, I will need to get one of those speedo-/odo-meters. I've travelled so much on the bike in the past month, especially this past weekend. My partner's car refused to start on Friday morning and had to be towed away for repair, so the weekend was a great opportunity for me to get him on the bicycle.

And what a ride it has been! On Saturday we took the dogs with us to Knox and back with a slight detour, so the entire trip was 15km. On Sunday we cycled to the local lake park and had a picnic... then at night we cycled to Wellington Village and back twice, so that was a good 10km; We had gone to get some groceries but upon arrival discovered that I had left my money at home and so had he!

I am starting to think that even though it's been barely a month I should bring my Eco3 in for a service. I'm a very rough rider and after a month's worth of riding I think the bike might need a bit of adjustment already!

Nice to read about you getting out and about.
The money you save in fuel will pay for your cycle computer / speedo / oddo / gadget.

Hi Sandra,
Great to read about the bike experiences and now you're beginning to find out what its all about. I think we all know that enthusiasm.
My dearest Olivia got her Mu sl from St Kilda cycles too. Very knowledgeable and have shown excellent servicing with the Dahon. If you have any issues or concerns or just a question, pop in there and they will take care of you. If its a minor adjustment they have done it on the spot, no charge. Of course they love to hear the stories about your little adventures and how great the bike is.
I'm so enthused I think I'll go for a ride myself. Lets see, where is a nice coffee shop....
