Cycling in Melbourne Australia

A new cycling accesory- Have your say!

To all cyclists,

Just a quick line to generate some thought on the needs and wants of cyclists. As a current director for a company 'Yawhoo,' we're looking to establish a cycling accessory. Thus far we have come up with the idea of what essentially is a safety contraption for those who ride in the dark; A non-intrusive wrist band that will illuminate to ensure cyclists are clearly visible, particularly when indicating with their hands. However, some perspective from you cyclists, the ones on the road, would be much appreciated. What is it that you want? Is there something you've always thought would be great whilst riding? it doesn't have to be in the form of what i've mentioned, anything you believe cyclists would appreciate would be great!

Any input you can provide will be highly valued and much appreciated! I'll endeavour to respond to everyone and ensure all respondents are kept updated on the progress of our product.

Kind Regards,
Darren

I've got an old product for bicycles that allows the rider to indicate when changing lanes or turning, they're called hands, they work fine, need no batteries and don't cost anything.

Good luck selling yet another gadgety thing for "push bikes"

Hi there

Not sure if this blog is stll being read. I have a new product for push bikes that allows the rider to indicate when changing lanes or turning.

Once inerted into the hadlebar ends they allow the rider to turn on the constant RED LED warning light and when required, press a button to change the out put to a Yellow flashing indicator and then back to RED again once the turn is completed.

Very simple install, no wires, LED, RED (Constant) plus Yellow (Flashig indicator function)

We are curently entertaining distributors in Aust. and NZ

Thoughts ??

Already got a pair of Axo black MTB leather shoes, they look similar to the above minus the ankle. It's more about customising Blunnies that I'm interested in pursuing further, probably a older pair with a steel shank for obvious reasons.

just screw your cleats into the sole with self tappers and off you go :)

Rocco's in Malvern might, or build something similar from the ground up. Shall we explore this idea further?

I'm in, if you know someone who could customise elastic-sided Blundstones with SPD's and Sidi buckles.

I want someone to make a set of leather dress shoes with cleats, so I can go from the bike into the office.
I'm considering going to a specialist shoe maker to put in a custom order.
Would anyone be interested in putting a group order?

I would rather not have to stick my paw out at all. I find this to be very dangerous when going at speed. I would rather like something like this...

Not sure if it would work out but I certainly love the idea of just flicking something to let people know I'm turning...just like the drivers do!!

Divergence is infact another way of stating a disagreement or discrepancy- which funnily enough, is exactly what has occured.
As for your views on changing peoples perceptions, how would you propose that be done with the resources that we currently have? I don't conced that it can't be done. However, it's undoubtedly going to take more than a few red pills to do so. As was acknowledged earlier, we are affiliates of YAA and hence, hardly have a profusion of money at this stage.
In regard to our product, the specifics are yet to be determined. The general consensus between us all though is that visibility would be a great area to address- it's only fitting that we provide a product we all believe to have some social merit. This forum was created to generate ideas that i could take back to my fellow colleagues. Nothing more, nothing less.

Regards,
Darren
