This from a story in The Age today:
"According to the 2008 World Development Report, more than 240 kilograms of corn — enough to feed one person for a year — is required to produce 100 litres of ethanol, enough to fill the tank of a sports utility vehicle." That's a long line of hungry people waiting at the petrol pump ...
My furniture finally arrived from Sydney, including my bike (yay!). Took it for a short ride along the Yarra track this morning. After riding the Apollo for a couple of weeks I noticed I didn't feel like my leg was getting optimum power and that maybe the seat is too low. I'm sure it's a matter of experiment, but was just curious to know if there's any way to work out your optimum seat height?
Messrs. Frigswell and Digby Caesar-Salad Esq. of West Kunting do the “Blue Steel”. Even the hunting hounds back then had stiff upper muzzles.
Why does everyone from n00b commuters to weekend warriors feel the necessity to tear along shared paths and roads as if they’re racing for sheep stations? Folks, calm down and enjoy the ride. The PB attempt can come later, at a more appropriate venue like the Hawthorn Mellowdrome, Biatch Road… Continue
It's good for commuters. I don't have to ride in the dark for at less another 2 weeks.
Anyway, I have ordered a L2D CE Q5 torch from the Torchworld as winter's coming.
It should arrive today.
I have watch this video in Youtube, and I think it's enough for a medium speed riding on dark bike… Continue

What a beautiful morning. The Autumn sun lured quite a few people out. I headed out for a pootle up the Dandenong Creek Trail from my place. Nothing really energetic. Just out and about to roll the legs over.
I raced my first Crit for the season and to my surprise I had lots of fun:
* I didn't fall off once, yet was resigned to the fact it wouldn't hurt too much if I did my normal dumb little falls on the unbanked corners (trackie)... I had my arm and leg warmers on + gloves so I was protected.
* My legs began to get lactic build up but it went away and I could finish the crit (that is a big thing for me).
* I came 5th (e grade... was looking for smaller font but didn't find… Continue

Here's the new cycling trend that the urban hipsters will be flocking to in droves. Maybe not for moi, as I don't really want to fast track that hip replacement quite yet
I've just moved back to Melbourne and thought I'd take advantage of living near the yarra track, being back in Melbourne and having my brother's old, but pretty cool Apollo II racer handy, to go for a short ride on this glorious morning. The path can be pretty hectic with riders and walkers and joggers, but I timed it well and it was great to get my bike legs moving after being off my bike for a while.
The worst thing about that track is that it's gravel. The logic of it escapes me,… Continue
Seriously cool Melbourne commuting vid from Nomad Tales, clearly illustrating how travelling from Brunnie to Footscray takes just on 25 minutes.
Virtually every streetscape will be familar to viewers, from the Upfield shared path, through the top of Royal Park, those f!king steps at Manningham Street, Moonee Ponds Creek path under CityLink (try riding that bit when it floods), through Kensington, short cut… Continue
