What is the best thing about riding?: you get places fast without harming the environment

A few words about yourself. (This bit is entirely optional!): My name is Jurgen; I am German but have lived in Australia for 15 years - I am a English teacher and have worked in 5 different countries in the last 3 years - I have travelled all over the world and like art and photography, reading and writing and music!
I have always liked to ride my bike. My best trip, on my own, was to ride through Italy, starting in Milan, finishing in Bari (the heel of Italy).
