- I am an mother of two born in different generations. I love cycling and find I just get really stressed when I drive in Melbourne inner-city. I am a cargo biker, the more I can carry the further from home I can venture. I am now an e-trike rider.

Battery life is a massive issue. I was talking to a man the other day who started out with a range of about 40km per charge and within two years it had dropped down to 17kms per charge. Go for a battery with Lithium polymer technology as they have no memory (half charge, full charge, whatever you like..it won't damage the battery) and also they last a lot longer. The batteries in the ebikes at the company I work for are lithium polymer and last between 4-5 years with frequent use..and even then, they only drop down to 90% charge. So they can last a long time.
Cargocycles I've heard good reviews about, so if that counts for anything..! Anyway, it's completely up to you what you decide. I'm not sure how much torque you get from a cargo but take one for a test ride and see. The ebike I have (from the company I work for...what a great perk of the job!) has great hill-climbing ability and that's what I really need. Some ebikes just die when you hit a hill, and torque from a 200watt motor is hard to come by.
