It still happens today, here in Melbourne. It's like any culture though, you'll always find there are elitists, and in this case, they seem to love serve the "new and uninformed".

I ended up getting the Selle Prolink Gel Flow, Ti.
Changed my mind on the colour, went with yellow, matches the frame. Looks hot.
Been riding it for a few months now, and am really happy with it!
Any saddle by fizik are good. Selle also make great saddles.
maybe a full up grade is in order. New bike should come with a new seat....
