"Just back from the rail trail. Ended up doing the XPT thing as it was guaranteed freight but had a minor panic attack being told that there was no bike booked. Happily the conductor finally decided it was possible that my ticket wasn't a…"

"Hmm. I once went to the enquiries desk at Sthn Cross to ask about where to buy a Sunday Saver. I had my CargoBike with 2.5yr old ensconced. I only had a few minutes before the train left, so a guy came out and looked after her while I sprinted…"

"You would certainly attract attention. The staff at Southern Cross are very quick to have a go at any bike around their station. I've seen someone told "you can't leave that there" meaning you can't lean your bike on a…"

"I reckon a few D-locked bikes to the front bumpers of some urban buses and the new so-called " SmartBus" that is one that should have a bike rack as it could help people finish their journey better as it traverses out of the way places and…"

"One sure-fire way to get some media time would be to D-Lock your bike to the luggage bay. Or the front of the train at Southern Cross - The Herald Sun guys shouldn't have to stagger too hard from their lunches to cover that one."

"The north-east line is all pear-shaped because of the project to convert to Standard Gauge. Going to take all this year and most of next I think. And when it's all over there's no guarantees on what trains will be run and whether there…"

"It's peculiar, isn't it? The entire region (some areas within quite startling distances of the trail) is promoting itself as a cycling destination, but the logistics of getting there are getting a little too offputting altogether. Hard to…"

"Don't worry, you can be *booked* on a Countrylink train, have *booked* your bike, turn up with bike in a box and find that the train is replaced by a coach and they refuse to take the bike anyway. V/Line can be just as bad, if the guard of the…"

"Too bad. CountryLink is an anti-cycling NSW institution. Please patronise VicRail services which carry bikes and hope CountryLink goes away. Their system would run more efficiently without passengers anyway."
