"Olive's first choice was a Tikit Hyperfold until we found out the price. She still wants one. As it works out its only 18 months public transport, after that it pays for itself. Hmmm! Wonder what I can get.... Rick."

"jeez I'd love a BikeFriday Tikit. I didn't know they made Triplets. How cool is that? I can see a tandem of some persuasion in our future, at some stage. Very nicely done, and yeah, owning a variety of non-standard bikes (inc. a Dahon) I…"

"You beat me to it Steve. Thats the next challenge and Olive is keen to do it and on her folder. Initially it took some convincing for her to ride and I forfeited my 210 ride with the guys to ride with her. Now that her enthusiasm has heightened I…"

"Always great to hear people coming to riding and loving it more and more. Next year, catch the bus to Sorrento and ride the 100km back to town, you won't regret it. You'll be surprised how quick and easy a 100 is compared to a 50,…"

ATB 50K

I have posted here before about cycling and also of my wife's cycling experience on a folding bike, a Dahon Mu Sl.On the weekend we did the 50K ride and although Olive had the choice of her Flat bar roadie with 700c wheels she chose her beloved Dahon. It wasn't just 50 K though as we rode to the event which was about 12 K's and home at the finish too. Olive was somewhat nervous about the distance initially even though I tried to convince her a steady pace will see her ride all day and not focus…See More

Rick Harker replied to Steve Jay's discussion Puncture Moan Thread
"I have had some doozies and it always seems at the wrong time. I always carry a spare tube and puncture kit. Got a puncture going out on a 40 K ride, no worries, changed the tube and off I went. At the half way point I got a slashed tyre...…"

"Good action shot. In the rain too. I tried taking some photos of the Worlds in Geelong with a handy cam.... = yuk! They go too fast and no consideration for people like me with a small camera."

"Hi Sandra, Great to read about the bike experiences and now you're beginning to find out what its all about. I think we all know that enthusiasm. My dearest Olivia got her Mu sl from St Kilda cycles too. Very knowledgeable and have shown…"

"Not sure if you bought it sight unseen but they do have a shop where you can see and try. I've checked them over and think from a brief overview that they seem quite sound. Comparing them to my wife's Dahon Mu sl shows little difference in…"

"I like the blurb about a flat time trial road surface and then later state no time trial bikes or tt handle bars allowed. Gee, whats the point. And the fees... I cannot find any mention of what part is going to the fund raising effort. If any. I can…"

Rick Harker replied to Mike rubbo's discussion Does Darwin show the way?
"If you look at the majority of riders on shared paths they are just cruising somewhere with friends or family. For the majority of these they go no faster than a jogger and the hazards are minimal. For these cyclists there is no reason medical or…"

Rick Harker replied to Mark Donnellan's discussion Total Dickhead!!!

Rick Harker replied to trundlebug's discussion HASA hazards?
"A folding bike has a lot of advantages and depending on what the intended use is I wouldn't be looking at cheap. There are many ways in looking at this problem because you can always justify it one way or the other. If you want a temporary…"
