I like the hanging hooks at Seven Seeds, but from the perspective of having a cafe, the idea of any inadvertent damage or injury does put a dampener on actually doing it. The council has already put four extra sheffield loops out the front and I fi…

Then let's have a thread on bike friendly cafes by all means - elsewhere - and not a misguided crusade that would make an already maligned group look ungrateful. The bike parking in Seven Seeds is spectacular - a great space, with enough hooks to h…

Sounds like your cafe was no good Leanne. I am also against bike locks, and when getting post-ride beverage I prefer seven seeds (). There are numerous things that make it perfect for your requirements. Here are some: (i) it has some of the most hig…

Well, I like the food at Time Out, but haven't been there with a bike as yet. I did cycle there once, but used the racks I suspect you were asked to. Not being a local-born, I wasn't sure if there was parking closer. That said, if there's a problem…

Pete, just to clarify, the point I was trying to make was that you shouldn't expect a bunch of people online to instantly take your side because something 'bad' happened to you at a café 'because you're a cyclist', and presume we'll join a misguided…

There are many bike friendly cafe places around melbourne and suburbs. The owners are quite aware of the connection riders have with their machinery and respect that, even offering parking for your bike next to tables or not even quibble parked agai…

Pete, that's rubbish. When directed by anyone working in a cafe or restaurant or even a service station, comply. 'Vendors and centre management' have a duty of care to all customers and staff, including *gasp* those without bikes (or should I say th…

Hi folks, when confronted by vendors or centre management not friendly to bike riders or giving poor customer service in general, the best thing is to move elsewhere. Voting with your feet (and making your experience public knowledge) is the most p…

Once someone has "told" you that you cannot park your bike somewhere they will not lose face by backing down. It doesn't matter how illogical their reasoning or faulty their logic, its a power thing. If you ask them first if there's somewhere you ca…

You will probably find that it is a Centre Management thing. I work in the security industry and visit many commercial places including Fed Square, I have noticed that a lot of Building Managers and Security Personal do control things like this, you…

Sorry - I don't agree, it's a public place and there isn't enough room for everyone at the cafe to park their bikes next to their tables. They have a responsibility to keep the area a clear walkway. Fed square have installed more bike parking and as…

We decided that since Portabella was closed in St Kilda, one of our favourite spots to stop for coffee, that we would head back to the city and stop at Fed Square. We surveyed the area and decided we would go to Time Out, a cafe/bar near the beginning. As we carried our bike down the stairs, we went to put them next to some potted plants, and prepared to sit on the other side of them, when someone from the… Continue
