George replied to skid marks's discussion Taking fines to court (this is not about helmets.)
"You are right: 2009 laws have the same wording: flashing red is red. Hence, the police officer has been right   I would argue that the pedestrian experience cannot be a guide here, because amber means proceed unless you cannot stop…"

George replied to skid marks's discussion Taking fines to court (this is not about helmets.)
"Are these current? The rules I've found on the vicroads website are different and they do not have so clear an explanation (they do not explain what flashing red means at…"

George replied to skid marks's discussion Taking fines to court (this is not about helmets.)
"skid: my apologies, I have forgotten that you have researched the issue and sure that the law exists. If so, I am quite a bit frustrated that I cannot find a references to such a law. Would you mind telling us where it is written and what's the…"

George replied to skid marks's discussion Taking fines to court (this is not about helmets.)
"I have read the road rules (http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/NR/rdonlyres/94D911A9-4D79-4E9C-8496-64929A7A9C8B/0/DrivinginVictoriawholedoc3.pdf) very carefully. In fact, I have searched for all "cycl" entries. I could not find a rule saying…"

George replied to skid marks's discussion Taking fines to court (this is not about helmets.)
"I cannot see that. It says "[a] person pushing a bicycle  is also considered to be a pedestrian" (naturally so), but I could not find any reference to a person on a bicycle being considered a pedestrian."

George replied to skid marks's discussion Taking fines to court (this is not about helmets.)
"I also think that skid's logic is a very good defense: it is counter-intuitive to approach green as "stop and go", but this has to be an interpretation for a blinking red light law to make sense. I am sure officer cannot prove…"

George replied to Mark Donnellan's discussion MAIN YARRA TRAIL UPDATE 29 SEPTEMBER 2010
"If the junction of Main Yarra trail and Gardiners creek trail is within the city of Yarra boundaries, maybe there are a scope for improvement there? If you come from the bridge, and turn to go north (not to the CBD), it is both a blind spot there…"

George replied to Steve Jay's discussion Sad Day

George replied to Mark Donnellan's discussion Yarra Trail Closure behind Melbourne Girls College Burnley
"I've run into this old thread trying to find out when the yarra trail will be completely re-opened. Is it right that MGC is still responsible for the current closure? -- it appears that the closure is exactly at the spot on this map. Are there…"

George replied to Samantha Baker's discussion Oakleigh to the MCG
"I think the route proposed by AlexZ is the best, except that there is no need to go off the bike path at Valley Rd: it does continues there, as the map clearly shows. To be sure, I use Adrian Tritschler's, not AlexZ's route, because the…"
