How to teach your kid to ride a bike, without training wheels

Posted on August 8, 2011 at 11:00am 5 Comments

I've posted this info quite a few times, in quite a few places, over the years. So I thought it best if I actually bung

it into a post of its own - and then I can just link back to this one.

For what it's worth - these aren't just my words. These are techniques that are used the world over, by professionals, and also just by people like you and me. However, from first-hand experience they worked for us, and many of our friends.

Bellarine Rail Trail - there and back again

Posted on January 3, 2011 at 11:00am 2 Comments

T he family spent post-Christmas -> New Years at a friend's place in Queenscliffe.  Had a great time, and did quite a few small rides for supplies, and with Thing1 (who can now ride hills).

Anyway, I was around 80km shy of 4,000km for the year (mostly commuting) and I had put my 35mm knobbies back on my MASI Speciale CX for some YouYangs fun, so I thought why not do the Bellarine…

For a while now (like, around 18 months), I've been meaning to cut down the flat bar on my daily SLUT commuter-scooter, the "Fluorobeast".

Well today, I found myself in the backyard with a newborn strapped to my chest. I was attempting to hang out the washing on the clothes horse (don't trust Melb weather), but that wasn't quite enough for the freshie. She wanted to be outside. So, looking for things to do outside, I thought, hey... why… Continue

Cory, I loved the pictures of the little wooden bike your daughter was riding. It looks exactly the same as one we lost or had stolen. My little boy Harvey would love to know how you got it, and if it is his.
