SS MTB Brake pads

Strava distance for this bike is now 7,956km, and if it's not on Strava, it's bullshit !

I haven’t ridden this bike for a while because I haven't been fit enough to push the gearing. Now that I'm a bit fitter and it has been raining I'll ride it some more. It's my only bike with mud guards... The brake pads had worn down to the metal inside again so I replaced front and rear this morning. My last two pairs of cheap Chinese brake pads. I think I'll try something different next time…

On top of the hill

There used to be a house up here about 20 years ago when I used to ride up here.

It's at the top of a short but very steep…

Single Speed Update

My Strava odometer says 5217km.

I haven't done anything except ride it since I put the bigger front chainring on.

Oh, I replaced the brake levers and cables. A positive aspect of leaving it way too late before replacing your brake cables is that they feel so smooooth. Like a new bike.

I'm thinking about changing my handlebars. The ones on it ar "Gnar Bars" with an outward bend at the end. I think they might me giving me sore wrists and I have a spare nice wide "normal"…

The need for speed

Posted on July 29, 2014 at 6:00pm 0 Comments

Lately I've found myself spinning my head off more than grinding my arse off so I decided to try a higher gear.

My rear hub will not take smaller than a 16t freewheel - BMX style screw on thing.

I could change the hub but 135mm integrated freewheel hubs are expensive and might be an option if I want to go higher oneday.

So decided to upgrade my front sprocket from 44 to 46t which in turn prompted a chain swap. I already had two joining links and even though a third would…

Hi Chris,
hope you are well.
I did not get a chance to ride last weekend so I don't know if it is finished yet. I can see some structure slightly protruding down from the middle and the earth beneath has been cleared they may be putting a support column there but not sure.
Cheers, Jack.

I am going to try and get some vision of the ride up Mountain Highway this weekend. After that I think Lysterfield may be my next video. Will there be some good shots at Lysterfield and will I need to pay an entry if I just ride in for a tour of the park.

Jack.
