What you might find is more of them being more confident and riding two abreast. (I mean, legally they can now, and their taxes payed for that road just as much as yours, and their vehicles damage the road far less, but I won't go there).

Yea that is the relaxed feel I had of it when I found out, I am looking forward to it. It will be a good warm up after the Alpine Challenge last month and a bit of time off.
Yup. Did the MTB ride 2 years ago, the 120 road last year and will again do the MTB ride this year. Best 'Melbourne' event around in my humble opinion and the most wonderful volunteers. You just park and go. No mass start. Cheap too.

At your level a good group to get into for a new Melbourne rider would be the Belgium Beer Garden rides. They are relatively relaxed depending on disatnce and afterwards are renowned for some good social activities.

Not sure if you are heading to Amsterdam or Belgium in the near future or just feel like a holiday, but the word is they pull out thousands of these bikes from the city river systems. Maybe you could pull your own out ;)
Hey, anyone here done the Alpine before. Sounds challenging alright, especially if it is through those same mountains that you drive up through Bright to get to snow hills/fields.
