Cycling in Melbourne Australia
Hi All,
I want to do short camping tours with the family, luggage space is at a premium for two tents & four sleeping bags, two tandems with kiddie cranks, mom doesn't get to ride as much as me. I was thinking about using a trailer on my tandem to off load my partner & even our paces of travel. I am not concerned about the length of the tandem with a trailer as we pulled the a kiddie trailer quite a bit in the past.
Does anybody have experience with both an extrawheel, bob, and folding bob type of trailers.
Abbotsford has one on their webpages, http://abbotsfordcycles.com.au/public/content/view/66/103/
Has anyone tried it?
Pros:
xtrawheel would be easier to pack for transport.
light
common wheel size
looks like it would be a lot shorter total length
Cons:
xtrawheel is for panniers- no rack
Questions:
1) Ease of attachment & reattachment - some of the crossings of roads on rail trails & are a problem to get thru as a whole unit.
2) Has anybody tried or seen this trailer on fleabay?

Ideally I would like to try before buying,
does anyone know of a place in metro area to hire any of these?
Thanks,
bruce

Tout Terrain has some interesting trailer options for cargo and kids.
