Cycling in Melbourne Australia

Thought about it a fair bit and didn't like the trailer solution - kids too low & vulnerable, hard to talk to and clumsy when manoeuvering & too wide for the road (or seems that way, others might feel it's ok). My first temporary solution was to join 2 bikes together for this, which rode surprisingly well but with a high centre of gravity:

Got some funny looks as you might imagine.Kids are getting too big for the seats now, so I bought a frame for a Yuba Mundo and built it up into this, which works well and the kids love it:

Very nice work.
Great job

Very nice Yuba Mundo solution.

Our oldest is nearly too big for our triple decker, but it will have to do for a while. It was custom made by Joel, a Castlemaine local for his boys until they outgrew it. We also swapped from a double trailer which was bulky and restrictive and it has revolutionised our family daily rides.

Jeez, I wouldn't ride that in town! Poor little fella on the front probably feels like one of those soft toys on a truck! Thanks for the pic, it's an interesting solution. I went with the Yuba as it feels secure & the kids are close and minimally vulnerable - we go to school on it everyday and despite taking all precaution there is always the possibility that statistics will catch up with us one day. I can recommend it as a carrier; the seat has a big range of movement so my wife who is 12" shorter than me can ride it too. The deck I built is pretty simple and there is room for expansion as they get bigger. We get lots of admiring comments. If you're thinking about the idea I can definitely recommend it as a viable solution, although it looks like you've got a bit of time before they outgrow that setup!

Ride Safe.

yeah, we would possibly feel different about the set up if we were in Melbourne, but it does feel good on our roads - there seems to be a bit more flexibility regarding where to ride and alot more space between cars (and dare I say alot of riding on paths).

And yes, I can't ride the triple decker as the frame is far too large for me. We'll certainly keep the Yuba in mind for the future as it looks like a really good solution.

LOVE it!
