Hey everyone, with the Hot Rodders coming to town this Sunday, the Carlton Gardens carpark is out. A couple of options and by no means the only ones available:
- Play at Carlton Gardens anyway. but on the super-smooth and level bluestone pavers outside the Melbourne Museum. 0% edged. Hasn't been a problem in the past re. spectators - we haven't killed anyone yet - it's good for the 'what the hell are they doing?' factor, although the waits for the ball to return can slow things down.
- Collingwood -
Haven't been here for a while ... a very 'street' location with all that graf and tasty tasty syringes lying around - anyone been past lately for a condition report?
- Weston St / Barkly Square Carpark - building still hasn't been leased yet, and there's that friendly African guy over the road who's always happy to lend a broom
- (a late christmas present:)
Yarra Bend Fly Casting Pool. Features: 75% - 90% edged, depending on how you divide it up - see images -- picnic table -- movable podiums for grandstanding and impromptu pic-a-nick tables (retasked fly casting stands) --
nearby women's prison --
nearby eastern freeway ... sure it's in the middle of nowhere, but it's very pretty. Just remember your national park guidelines - take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints. :) If you're going to bring beverages, try to avoid glass containers and go aluminium - less energy to transport and recycle ...
Update: Rolling at Northcote Social Club this Sunday. Will be doing some arm-twisting when it winds down to go take a look ;-)
