Cycling in Melbourne Australia

Ewen Gellie, a name probably known to many Melbourne cyclists, is making custom frames. Peruse his fine produce at Gellie Custom frames.

Tig welded or Fillet Brazed; Track, Road, 29er, 96er or MTB, using Columbus, TrueTemper or Kaisei tubing. I can make a frame with my geometry to suit your size, or a custom geometry frame to your favourite design for a bit extra.

Frames for those who can appreciate the spring and liveliness of steel, and know that its beauty is just as much about the material as the paint and stickers.

The materials I use allow me to design a frame with a bit of frame flex. The tubing is strong and lightweight and results in a “lively” ride. So you get a frame with a more forgiving ride than aluminium so you can ride for longer and the frame will wear you out less.

In TIG welded, or Fillet brazed with the beautifully smooth joints and only 80 grams or so of extra weight. With disc mount or removeable-post brake-bosses. Why fillet brazed? Fillet brazed joints are significantly better at withstanding fatigue failure than TIG joints, slightly better than lugs, and slightly better than both for strength to failure.

Tasty.

Holy Crap ! That's some seriously stunning welding work there. Just spent the last 5 minutes mopping up all the drool covering my keyboard. What i'd give for a custom frame from this bloke. Anyone know a place that will pay good money for a kidney ?

Fillet Brazed

Just typing it makes your fingers tingle ...
hmmmm, superbly fine...
can we get an MC "Save Ferris" (Bueller) collection going and acquire some of these fine machines of slender elegance and go for mere mortals to perve on in the flesh and perchance to treddle on ?
