Cycling in Melbourne Australia

So who else is a hard waste tragic? Apparently in my age group/demographic, females are more preoccupied with DFO and the urban wastelands of Chaddie. Not I, a pile of non-descript shite on a naturestrip can raise the HR faster than a decent climb.

Here's one example: The Lawrencia

In retrospect I blame living literally next door to the old Northcote tip for the most part of a decade for this. The tip gave up a old Malvern Star that returned me to cycling about 12-13 years ago. It's been a non-stop frenzy of N + 1 and DIY tweaking ever since. And there's stuff retrieved for diddly-squat that's treasured more than the blingbling I can afford now.

Is there a public listing of council hardwaste collection dates for Melbourne or have most councils gone the individual pickup or made it illegal unless a registered recycler gets the council tender?

Mate...what can I say. My favourite steed at the moment is a resurrected hard rubbish dunger (See header photo). The shed at the moment is full of frames, wheels, seats & handlebars etc. Several times a year out my way it becomes a virtual sea of rusty two-wheeled nirvana.
Found this link that will probably keep me entertained for hours.
While this is a lot of fun (and not to mention the fact that recycling is good for the environment) it is actually illegal to take hard rubbish from nature strips. There's a Victorian State Government Act in 2004 that prohibits this past time. I'm not saying not to do it, just be careful out there and good luck.

I am actually looking for a single speed project at the moment from an old steel road racer (48cm - 50cm size), the last hard rubbish collection in my area I only saw an old very large one. Damn....
