Cycling in Melbourne Australia
We meet every Sunday at 08.45am for a ride starting at 9am at Cafe Racer. Riding along Beach Road, [about 25-35km/hr] to Mordy/Frankston. We also do other rides around Melbourne including Climbs (7 peaks), Organised rides (MAD, BAD, Otway, ATB, etc) and MTB . Riding and enjoying a laugh is the focus, so make sure you bring your sense of humour!! Oh, ensure your bike and kit are clean/well maintained - don't want any unnecessary accidents. *If you want to join 9ers, your request will be accepted, but you'll need to do at least 2 rides each month for your membership to be maintained :)

Comment by Alexander Langman Hender on January 9, 2012 at 8:06am Both rides sound good to me. I'm having a bike fit on Saturday so maybe hitting the road for a nice long ride on Sunday will be perfect!

Comment by Heather on January 8, 2012 at 5:11pm Hi again, I just checked and this is the ride on Saturday: "Williamstown Stevedore St. This ride leaves the Williamstown store at 7.00am every Saturday,and is a leisurely ride of either 3 laps of Williamstown or to Altona Meadows and return, back around 8am. A total distance of 30km at an average speed of 25-30km/h+ followed by coffee there after. Only a moderate level of fitness is required".

Comment by Tim on January 8, 2012 at 1:54pm we sure did, four of us, and yes we got caught in it to, however it was not to cold in fact rather good, as very few people over took us.
Comment by Alexander Langman Hender on January 4, 2012 at 2:23pm Now, was it Mark that was riding the Defy?
This is copied from the Bicycle Network website;
8 December 2011. A popular road bike in the Australian market, the Giant Defy, has seen a number of models recalled because of fork failure.
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) has issued a product safety recall for the 2012 models: Giant Defy Advanced 2, Defy Advanced 3, and the Giant Avail Advanced 2, a variation of the Defy for female riders.
According to the ACCC there is potential for the fork blades to crack under severe riding conditions, resulting in a fall and potential injury to the user.
Riders should immediately discontinue riding the affected bicycle. Consumers should return the bike to a Giant dealer for repair.
The bikes were sold by Giant dealers across Australia.
This is the second recall of Giant carbon fibre road bikes because of fork faults. This time last year the company recalled several of its high-end TCR models. (See below)

Comment by Alexander Langman Hender on January 3, 2012 at 5:53am Nice work, guys. Definitely a good ride despite the heat. I'm keen for the next one. This weekend will be Tenax Saturday and 9 o'clockers Sunday. Forecast is 28 / 29 degrees max so a lot nicer!
