Cycling in Melbourne Australia
according to my unicycling mate, Jeremy:
smaller wheels are easier to balance
bigger wheels travel more distance and cope better with undulating surfaces
24" is preferred by many as a good compromise of manouvreability and distance capability
24" is my preferred off road tyre with a Maxxis High Roller 2.3"(?) tyre giving nice shock absorbsion and good all round grip
as an indication, pedalling a 24" uni on flat ground is faster than walking but slower than jogging
For me it would be one with training wheels. I have hopeless balance and a unicycle would be a disaster for me. Goodonya for having a go on one. I am sure there will be one or two people who can help you on your quest.
Thanks Steve. Would you still say the 20" given I'm 6'1" and 85kg? And to add to this, the good lady wife is 5'2" and would most definitely want to get involved.
