Melbourne Cyclist

Cycling in Melbourne Australia

last night I passed this trail safety notice near the bike trail on a ride to williamstown.  it was near scienceworks so I think its hobsons bay council

I like the second point from the bottom "no entry after dark"  why would a council advise people not to use their cycling infrastructure during certain hours?  most councils seem to be seriously promoting their bike paths.  could they wash themselves of any responsibility if someone had an accident at night by simply putting a sign like this up?

Ask the council.  cc Bicycle Victoria.  Keep us posted.

(Looks old.  Attitudes may have changed.  If so, the sign should too, accordingly).

But I'd suggest that if running a pair of AYUPs, you could argue the merits of whether"After Dark" is a time of day or just a state of mind.....  ;D
