Hey I just got back from the World Master Games and the UCI Track Master on the track in Sydney. Awesome experience and I learned some valuable lessons.
I've shared some here for anyone interested in the track.
About a year ago I did a Come 'N Try Track Cycling Day at DISC. It was awesome!! At the age of 50 I'm not going to take up competition track cycling...just yet. I've got a light steel frame with horizontal drop-outs, high flange hubs and clincher rims just waiting to be built up properly to a knockabout track bike. Where I live both Preston and Brunswick Cycling Clubs have the old-fashioned outdoor velodromes that are 'open' to the public. So one day...soon. I'm off to the UCI world Cup at Hisense next month to salivate and be inspired some more. With a 3-year old and an 8-month old some things have to wait. By day I'm just a commuter on my bike, but I love the purity of track cycling. There's something elemental and fundamental about it. It seems kind of pure..
