Touring Bike: bringing from Europe, or buy second hand in Au
At home in the Netherlands I have a nice touring bike. I am planning to work in Melboure for 12 months, and I am debating whether to bring my touring bike from home or to buy a good second hand (or probably less good, but cheaper new) touring bike in Australia. I think I will use it mainly for commuting and weekend trips, and possibly a few times for longer trips carrying panniers and tent.
What are the prices of decent bikes in the Melbourne area?

hmmmm ... you can pick up a custom city/come/touring bike brand new for approx 2500AUD it would be Al Frame, good geometry for touring and commuting, SRAM Rival 10spd Groupset with a triple cranks, spd and platform combo pedals, rack and pannier mounts, Mavic 700cWheelset and Maxxis Tyres 23-25-28's to suit needs.
