Cycling in Melbourne Australia
Hello folks,
This morning I was riding the Main Yarra Trail on the Burnley boardwalk section towards the City around 7:10am. The bit just on the City-side of the junction of the underpass to Mary Street can be particularly treacherous on cold mornings and today was no exception.
Another chap had come a cropper and when I was there, was looked after by two older riders and was being placed on a gurney by two paramedics. I would presume his wheels unbalanced on the short descent due to ice.
There are a few short metal sections on this path which 'attract' ice, and this morning's injury reinforces again the need for care and slowness on some of these sections, particularly in the dark and the cold. Don't be intimated by the fasties coming behind you - if you feel you should slow down, do.

Under trees with the oil from a gum tree or slippery crud stuff under damp leaves. My most recent minor moment was from a small pile of grass clippings thrown onto a bike path from the mower.
I hope he's OK.
