A very small advertisement in the local papers from VicRoads has alerted to the fact that the bike lanes will be repainted from Southbank to St Kilda starting February through until April.
So we might see some more green paint and rumble strips very shortly where they were previously lacking. I'm not sure if this will fix the parts where the lane suddenly stops though and becomes a left turning lane at many intersections. Anyone noticed any action besides The new green lanes at the St Kilda junction?
It will be great to have green lanes as it might help those who keep driving into them seeing that they are actually bike lanes noe car lanes also yes it is a bloody annoying about those lanes that dissappear about 100 meters before an intersection.
Now all that needs to be fixed is the taxis parking over the bike lane to drop off/pick up passengers and the lucky door prize problem. But if we were to get the Copenhagen treatment on St Kilda Road it would probably be badly implemented! Kick the traffic cars off this street I say as they have Kings Way/Queens Way to go about their peak hour crawl!
