Cycling in Melbourne Australia
I see many others riding by themselves on Sunday mornings so I have an idea: Meet up at Cafe Racer at 9am and ride to Black Rock or Mordy return. You can ride from somewhere else to make the ride longer or, just turn up for this one and enjoy a coffee at Velocino before the return trip. And, if there's nobody else at Racer, then you (and I) haven't lost out: we'll still be riding alone anyway! How will we know who eachother is? Probably be the ones standing on the footpath alongside our bikes, or sitting at a table with one coffee in front of us!! No more nigel nofriends !!!

Permalink Reply by Heather on November 23, 2011 at 4:46pm Hi everyone, it's great there is so much interest. I'm off to the Great Vic Bike Ride on 25 Nov 11 so will miss the next two Sundays, but will be there the following one. It will be fantastic if you could do this Sunday without me: Just meet at Racer at 9am and post how it went so I can check while I'm in the saddle for 590km !!! Have fun :)Hey, I suppose we should have a name for this one, any suggestions?
Permalink Reply by Heather on November 23, 2011 at 6:17pm Hi again, I've just had queries regarding the location of Cafe Racer: If you're riding from Port Melbourne it's about a block past Luna Park, conspicuous by the number of cyclists and bikes! Also, The Freedom Machine (TFM) bike shops run monthly bunch riding clinics, they're free and at the end of the session there's coffee and conversation at a local cafe. I've done the Port Melb one, and highly recommend it, all you have to do is log on to the website and register. TFM also has shops at Prahran and Williamstown. The Sunday rides I'm wanting to start up would be a great opportunity to practice the skills learned from the Clinics, or to just pick it up as we go along. Mandatory is sense of humour and friendliness, all ages and genders welcome, shame I'm away for the next two weeks! As I've already mentioned, it would be great for someone to start a ride from Mordy along the same vein ......... cheers, Snoopy!
Permalink Reply by Heather on November 23, 2011 at 6:39pm Me again (obviously I'm going to be away, judging by the traffic I've created tonight)! How about we call this 'The 9 oclockers", that way nobody will foolishly have to go around asking people, 'are you doing the ride off Melbourne Cyclist?" :)
I have been trying to organise myself make another beach road video and a Melbourne Cyclist ride sounds like a good theme. Pretty booked up on the weekends from now until the end of the year so I will have to wait. Maybe by the time I get some free time the group will be better established.
Cheers, and ride safe!

Permalink Reply by kriztala on November 27, 2011 at 8:40pm I was there today! Only about 7 minutes late. So I ended up riding solo again. Hopefully next time I would be able to catch you guys and put an end to riding solo!
