Also try the forums @ Trailmix; the MTB shop within Lysty.  Used to have a few social rides/hook-ups etc, though their forums look pretty dead now:

Also the You Yangs in another excellent place to go riding 'in the woods', though there is a bit more topography there. But at this time of the year (wet), the Youies is MUCH nicer than Lysty, which will probably resemble a swamp by now...
