HELP THE FIGHT AGAINST BLOOD DOPING IN SPORT

Who are we?

Exercise Research Australia in collaboration with SIAB, a leading international research body against blood doping in sport are seeking participants to be part of a new research study investigating EPO use in sport.

Do I meet the subject criteria?

Selection criteria: Males aged 18-39 years; VO2max 55+ ml/kg/min (to be tested); training 4-5 times per week (~2 hours each time) for a min. 2 years

Sports Background: Cycling- road, track, MTB, triathlon

What would I need to do?

Preliminary tests: To satisfy all selection criteria you will need to undergo a Medical Clearance, VO2max test and a performance test

Research Dates: Trials will commence on September 21st 2009 and finish on December 11th 2009

Research Group: You will be randomly assigned to either an EPO or placebo research group and will not know which this is until the end of the study



Time Commitment: Attend ERA laboratory (Clayton) or Doctors Office (location will vary) twice per week (Mon & Thurs) for 12 weeks



Competition: You will be prevented from competing until 6 weeks after your last research trial

Reimbursement: You will be provided with a nominal amount to offset travel costs
