Melbourne Cyclist

Cycling in Melbourne Australia

Hello all,

I ride a Fuji 08 Roubaix pro road bike. On the way to work on Monday morning. Just before i go to the top of the hill. was doing about 30km. I have sheered off my rear derailleur. Have done quiet a bit of damage to the bike. I was quick enough to get out of my pedals as my rear wheel became locked.

I have take it to the local bike shop but they are having trouble finding me a replacement bracket to hand the new derailleur. Does anyone have any advice they can give me.

I need my bike back and ready for the Melb summer cycle event.

Eww, nasty. I have never done it on a road bike but busted and mangled a few on my MTB.

Don't you hate it when people tell you should should have a spare derailer hanger after you bust one?

There a many 'standards' to choose from.

Check out a few links.

LBS's often have a box of hangers to rifle through but failing this I would put yours together and try to get a match on CRC.

If you replace it yourself you can align it with an old derailer bolt and a couple of rulers but it's a pain in the arse.

Best to get a DAG2

Of course there are many online stores - I just chose one.

Unfortunately it's not really something you can 'dodgey up'.

Good luck.
