I'll say straight up, at $169 this bike is a compromise, but not as many I'd have expected. For the money you get a high tensile steel frame witha Dahon-like hinge, 6 speed shaman tourney gears and brakes, a pannier rack mudguards and a decent carry bag.

Theres only 1 colour, a nice metallic blue. The cranks are A little short and the tyres are cheapies. It could use a longer seatpost. That's the only bad. Seriously, that's all.

It rides like a dream, is quite quick for what it is and feels very well made. My test ride was in pouring rain and, while I got wet, it was the rain not spray from the wheels, the guards really work! It folds like a Dahon and doesn't weigh too much more, 15.1kg bagged. Remove the rack, kickstand and bell and it's the same weight as my chromo 1993 Giant Iguana and Iggy doesn't have guards or the bag around her.

These are a great 2nd bike/spare bike or tram tracker (for those who live outside zone 1 and want to save on train tix.) get in quick before Aldi sell out, I reckon.

Last year's BEND-R frame was from the same factory as Dahon, I believe. I asked a few uni students what they were like, and they thought they were great.

I didn't think this year's looked as good. But, it seems it is, and for that price, it's great to have the option, I reckon.
