Advice Required - Indoor Bicycle Storage Racks

Hi All

I'm seeking an indoor bike storage rack for my bikes for space saving reasons.

Can any-one recommend or critique inside bike racks.

There seem to be 3 main types; 
- ceiling hoists for storing bikes from ceilings
- one up bike holders ; wall attachments to hang bikes on by the wheel
- floor to ceiling stands (poles that bikes attach to)

Any thoughts on the quality & use of these or recommendations of brands and types.

Hi Jo,
I actually produce an indoor bike carrying system that is superior to all of those mentioned above.
I'm at work now, so not enough time to go into too much detail here. However I'll tell you more about it soon, so don't act on anything else yet.

if you want to save space i recommend you buy a storage device which you can place multiple bikes on

Hi Jo,

I've just been through this process too - almost all the rack seemed practical but ugly.

I ended up getting a cycloc and just installed it last week - I'll try to remember to put up a photo when I get home.

Its a really well designed nice looking indoor rack that made my bike look like a piece of art on the wall.

They are available in a few places around Australia and online.

Search for cycloc on google.

Hi Eytan,

 

I know what you mean about the 'looks' of most bike racks. The one that I've designed has been specified to pass the 'partner's asthetics' test.

In other words, if you're partner saw one in thier living room without knowing it's purpose, would they reply "that's a lovely piece of sculpture" or "get that ugly piece of  #@*% out of my house"?

 

There's a few other advantages it has over the cycloc as well.

 

1. It doesn't require you putting fixings into the said partners wall

2. It can hang up to four bikes on the same bike carrier

3. It hangs them verticaly, rather than horizontally, leaving more precious wall space for other things...  such as said partners antique desk or what ever.

4. It promotes domestic harmony and encourages a cycle centred lifestyle.

Wish I'd heard about it before the cycloc - I'm very happy with it though so far.

cycloc looks clever, but what does it do to the bikes paintwork?
