Yarra Valley Water are replacing a 100 year old sewer main under the Yarra River near Walmer Street Bridge.

Expect delays and closures on Main Yarra Trail, Abbotsford near Walmer Street Bridge between April and November.

Ladies and gentlemen, place your bets... will it or won't it reopen by the end of November...

 

This is Yarra Council, not Transurban. Expect it to be done within timeframes, unless the weather stuffs things up.
This is not Yarra Council works - Yarra Valley Water.  My understanding is that the path disruption will be minimal - but I wouldn't bet the house on it

Ah well, rain permitting then, lets hope Mother Nature & the surrounding geology play nice. Remember when part of the retaining wall near Alma wharf gave way a few years back?

 

BTW - the Yarra Water pdf linked above - I didn't think Victoria Street turned into Barkers Road before crossing the Yarra? Nice aerial shot of the Studley Park Vineyard though ;)

Good point, I'd forgotten... and I'm used to Monash council who are perhaps a little less forthcoming in announcing works... or even in doing them as far as I can tell.
