Cycling in Melbourne Australia

Nice day for a ride today I expect you all got out as well. Noticed a lot of helmets with cable ties on this morning as I rode along the Dandenong Creek Trail. This got me thinking that it is magpie swooping season soon.

We have a map on this site but it does not get nearly as much activity and the DSE one does. Looking at the DSE site they will reset the 2010 map any day: http://www.dse.vic.gov.au/plants-and-animals/native-plants-and-anim...

Have fun and open up the eyes in the back of your head.

Its magpie swooping season whenever the magpie says so :)  Some are early, some are late, but I'm keeping an eye on one along my commute, saw him on Sunday morning and he's looking all sleek and shiny and testosterone-charged and I'm sure he was checking his diary for what day it was...

As for the cable ties, never found them effective myself.  Interestingly, attaching anything to your helmet renders it no longer compliant with the Australian standard and thus illegal to wear, but as with many parts of the law, it aint observed and it aint enforced.

Thanks for that and yes it is approaching again hope it won't be too bad this year.

Not many hits located on the map just yet.

There is another map but this one seems a little better. According to the reports my riding areas are clear (I hope)

yeh I got done at the usual place today.

Between the tennis courts and the station.

Lucky I had my helmet on !

That would be the Eltham Station..  minor piece of info left out there.
Glad the little blighters are not around here. There are a couple that live in my court and are always looking for a feed in the grass but they seem quite tame and the only time they get up high and look around is to see who is about to cut there grass as they wait for another feed.

We have a pair here that we feed by hand and they still bomb the crap out of us in breeding season. I don't think they have any chicks this year, or they're later than the others, because they have not bombed me yet.

Little buggers... just like they're football collegues, untrusworthy !! hahha.

Took a direct hit on the helmet this morning on the way to work: Sanctuary Lakes bvd nth, near the Breezewater.
Hmm There is Magpie  next  Brunswick Velodrome  in Harrison st
