Brimbank City Council is pleased to announce our bike ride to be held during Reconciliation Week 2011. Commencing from the Hunt Club Community Arts Centre in Deer Park groups of riders will make their way to the Western Ring Path to the first stop at Brimbank Park. Brimbank Park has a rich Indigenous history of over 40,000 years with a number of points of interest within.
Enjoy a Welcome to Country by a Wurundjeri Elder then accompanied by a guide riders and also walking groups will tour the park. Moving out of the park riders follow local streets of the quaint Keilor Village making their way to historic Overnewton Castle for a light lunch.
Sections of the ride require various degrees of fitness and skills due to a number of hills in the Keilor Village area but hopping off the bike at times is an option.
We encourage families and individuals to participate in this exciting event by completing the registration form available on Council's website or by contacting the event co-ordinator on 9249 4600.
Also available is a bus shuttle back to the starting point for participants who do not wish to complete both stages of the event or who do not wish to ride the return route. The event route (one way) is approximately 16kms.
