Event Description

Globally-renowned transport experts Melissa and Chris Bruntlett from Modacity, Vancouver will headline this year’s Australian Walking and Cycling Conference as well as the Bicycle Tourism Conference in Bendigo.

Central to the theme is how walking and cycling have the potential to transform the places Australians live, the economy, and how people engage with their environment.

Included is how cycling and walking contribute to transport and recreation, and provide solutions to liveability, health, community building, economic development and sustainability.

The bicycle tourism conference will hear from a range of presenters on the central theme ‘bicycle tourism: transforming global communities and economies’.

The Walking and Cycling Conference has a strong program of Australian and international speakers discussing how the simple acts of walking and cycling can change the places we live.

Bicycle Tourism Conference highlights

  • Peter Skilbeck – Rail Trails Australia. From inception to completion, how Mount Alexander Shire (Vic) created a purpose built mountain bike park.
  • Craig Grocke – Regional Development Australia. Measuring Success: A Case Study of the Barossa Wine Region in South Australia.
  • Noel Dempsey – CEO, City of Ballarat. Ballarat secured the hallmark event, the Cycling Australia Road National Championships a number of years ago. What has been the result and ‘what next’ for Ballarat as a cycling destination.
