From CSV: The Whittlesea Challenge is fast becoming one of Victoria’s most scenic and challenging recreational rides.
Now in its third year, the Whittlesea Challenge has moved dates and will be held on Saturday 29 May.
The event is supporting a youth mentoring organisation, Big Brothers Big Sisters, where $5 will be donated from each entry.
The Whittlesea region provides the rare opportunity to escape the traffic and enjoy quiet roads, picturesque scenery and country charm only 35 minutes from central Melbourne.
The 110km and 50km course entails a variety of undulating terrain and breathtaking views across the Kinglake National Park; this ride is available for cyclists of all fitness levels and will push cyclists to their limits.
Mayor, Mary Lalios said "The Whittlesea Challenge is now a regular event in Whittlesea, which our community and others from outside the community look forward too". Mayor Lalios added "The event is well supported and is ideal for beginners right through to experienced riders. I encourage all to have a go."
The roads surrounding Whittlesea have long been popular with cyclists of all abilities. Australian star Cadel Evans grew up in Arthur's Creek just down the road from Whittlesea, and still rates this as one of his favourite training regions anywhere in the world. Many other European based cyclists such as Will Walker and Darren Lapthorne are regulars in these parts when back in Australia.
So get on your bike and enter today, you will not be disappointed!!!
