Ok we are now considering watching the start at Fereration Square and then gambling on exiting the CBD and escaping to Geelong to watch the finish. I wonder if others are planning a similar thing. We will probably leave the car in North Melbourne and bicycle to the start, once that is over cycle back to the car and exit via Footscray road and Ballarat Road. From there we have not decided if it would be better to head for Ballarat and cut back or join the Geelong Road around Werribee. We will have to study the cyclists route carefully before making our final travel plans. Looking forward to the event, hope the weather fines up.

I am planning "like many others to just attend attend the end of the Road Race on Sunday 3rd October. Not sure where I will position myself yet but probably ride in from the Queens Park area as I am leaving the car at an aunt's place in Herne Hill. Near the temporary bride that I am told was under water during the heavy rain we had last week.
There are not many postings on Melb Cyclist re the event but on the Cycling Tips Blog it is really firing up. For a look at the course and a profile map from the GPS output from the ride try this link: http://www.cyclingtipsblog.com/2010/01/2010-world-championship-cour...
